A Garden of Plenty

Just a couple of the vegetables that have graced our table over the last couple of days, not to mention the potatoes, peas, broccoli, chard and onions! The garden is still looking good, despite having pulled so many of the summer annuals up. The two smothered roses, Rosemoor and Felicite Parmentier are starting to enjoy their new-found freedom, and William Morris is literally dripping with huge buds, waiting to burst. The pumpkin is one of 5, the others still not quite ripe, but nearly so - the definite sign of Autumn.

OK, a third try here! Boy, blogger is being temperamental!

That pumpkin looks like it was grown just for making the perfect pie! Or perhaps a pumpkin-walnut muffin... or pumpkin bread, waffles, pumpkin cake roll, or even a lovely creamy pumpkin and saffron soup! Autum really makes me hungry, and your lovely photo is only fueling the appetite!

The pumpkin is such a beautiful colour, they are one of the things I love about autumn. Ever since I saw in the US how people decorate the outside of their homes with all shapes, sizes and colours of goiurds and pumpkins I've tried to do the same though to a lesser extent. Haven't done this years yet but now the front garden is all cleaned up that will be my next thing. Felicite Parmentier is lovely in flower but doesn't like getting wet! This year is the first time I've seen her flower really well instead of producing lots of dead looking round blobs where flowers should be!

An avid tea-drinker who likes Nutmeg in her coffee and warm lavender-scented quilts. She knits, crochets and partakes in random acts of craftiness (and kindness). She can often be found outside, in the garden with her faithful doggy companion, and a cup of tea. Reading is a pasttime that she enjoys muchly, so too is moving furniture around. She writes haiku about nettles, would like to swim with seals and become completely self-sufficient.
